Why We Do What We Do

School and Campus safety is something that is important to everyone. It provides us with the chance to keep children safe, and protect their innocence for at least one more day. How heart wrenching it is when we hear of a shooting at a school, especially where the targets are very young children. That is why the National School Safety Collaboratory has created School and CampusTQ. School and CampusTQ (Where the TQ stands for ‘Threat Quotient’) is a software solution that provides continuous protection as school administrators and teachers answer predetermined questions created by national experts. It allows for the creation of a Meta data repository that has been thoroughly vetted and reverse engineered to understand the cause of incidence, and to project out an answer on how to prevent or mitigate that incident. Additionally, School and CampusTQ will provide alerts to administrators, teachers, and parents, of negative events from around the world. The assessment tool looks at 10 areas critical to the safety of primary, secondary, and post-secondary schools. Those 10 areas are:

  • Mass shootings and hostage taking
  • Improvised destructive devices
  • Transportation Security
  • Food adulteration
  • Fires and arson
  • Nuclear, biological and chemical emergencies
  • Other crimes on campus
  • Student suicides
  • Communicable disease
  • Natural disasters

Furthermore, School and CampusTQ will allow school administrators to run scenarios through the tool to determine how vulnerable that school is to a negative event occurring, and it will provide a response tool that will guide administrators, teachers, students, and parents, through a crisis within their community.
